Memorial Day... what a day to remember. As you can tell by the images, we miscalculated the fall of the branches. Actually, we were unable to guide the branches as they were falling. Luckily, there was no major damage to the house. The only damage occurred while I was removing the branches from the roof. A part of the branch struck a small bath window and chattered it. Cost to repair it was about $43.00. The wife was not too happy with me. I have decided to purchase a rope chain saw for the extremely high branches. This way I will be able to bring down smaller portions of the tree and allow safer working conditions. Cost of rope chain saw... $49.00 plus shipping.

A section of the house gets stuck by the falling branches.
This section was only about 20% of the upper section of the eucalyptus tree.

This is an image of what the pro rope-chain saw consist of; it comes with about 25' of rope on each end plus a 48" chain saw. A weight is also included for anchoring the desired branch to be removed.
This image illustrates how the chain works. Per the description, I should be able to cut 8" diameter branches with no problem. For higher branches, one just adds an extension to the existing ropes.

Last year my wife and I attended an artificial rock-making course in Branford, Missouri offered by rockandwater.com (left image). This summer I want to attend a semi-local seminar by another company called rock and water creations, located in Fillmore, California (the image on the right is one of their creations). The seminar is possibly a 2-3 day course. I have requested the information and I will try to attend their early July seminar. However, this is tentative since our English bulldog may be expecting a litter during the first week of July.

Recap of the day... Our children thought the branch striking the house was comical. One day my wife will recall this incident and find it humorous... at least I am hoping... Good rule of thumb... always have the right tools for the job. As for the rock seminars, I will post more information within the next few weeks.
